The sin of sins VII
“But he who has doubts is condemned, if he eats, because he does not act from faith; for whatever does not proceed from faith is sin”. (Romans 14:23)
We have worked on this series of studies with the meaning of sin presented by Jesus, that defines it as the unbelief related to his person (John 16:9). To Jesus, sin is not to believe on him, then, the freedom of sin is to live by faith on him.
The apostle Paul stated that everything that does not come from faith is sin. Therefore, everything that proceeds from faith, certainly, it is not sin. He also said that faith appears when the word of Christ is heard. Faith is linked to the person of Christ, as he is the author and the consummator. We all were born on this world where the reality is three dimensional and it is contaminated by sin, atheists or unbelievers regarding to Christ Jesus as the Savior and Lord of all human beings.
Alexandre MacLaren refered himself to the theme, saying: “faith is the vision of the interior eye”. Faith (from the Greek: pistia and from the Latim: fides) it is the firm conviction of the truth with no need or evidence of any proof at all, simply by the unrestricted confidence that is put on the person who said the truth. Even if faith is not logical or absurd, it transcends the limits of the human logics when it firms itself on the precepts of the unchangeableness of the Absolute.
Sciences need the sustentation of facts, in order to give support to the facts. Something just becomes scientific after it is proved, confirmed and checked up. A theory is not a science, even if it has sense on its allegations. Faith is not a theory, nor a confirmation of facts, though its conviction may be immovable. While science makes its demonstrations on the physical field, faith elaborates its conviction on a metaphysical plan. This does not mean that faith is less real than science.
The visible reality of this world is constituted primarily by an immaterial and invisible reality. The touchable matter is formed by atoms, that can not be seen, neither under the most powerful microscopes. Perhaps, scientifically, we can say the same than the Bible says, theologically: “By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear”. (Hebrews 11:3)
The scientists discovered through Mathematics, Physics and Chemical laws that the atom is formed by a nucleus of positive electrical charge, around which move tinny and invisible particles of mass negatively electrified: the electrons. In the nucleus there are two types of particles: protons, that are electrically positive, and neutrons, that haven’t an electrical charge.
This is a theory of the Quantum Physics confirmed by the power of the atomic fissure and disintegration, but the atom on its nuclear structure is not, at all, invisible. It seems that, on this case, science and faith are based on a similar invisible reality. The power of the anti-matter is tremendous so much to Physics than to Theology. The invisible energy of the atom or the immaterial and spiritual power of the word of God are behind this visible reality of the creation.
The basic question is that on the field of faith it is not needed a proof, while science subsists always doubting, searching for a proof. Faith is the audacity of the soul in seing beyond what is possible to see, because it distinguishes with clarity the invisibility of God´s power.
For the believer, Christ is the author and the consummator of faith. The spiritual or immaterial Christ living on the historical Jesus is the improbable sustentation of the consistant faith. The same way as we can not see the structure of the atomic particles, but we can perceive the atomic power of a nuclear bomb, on the same way, also, we can not demonstrate tangibly the author of faith, though we can not deny his practical effects on the lives of those who believe.
The emphasis, on these studies, it is based on sin as being the incredulity facing the word, the person and the work of Christ Jesus. Sin is not to believe in Jesus as the Christ. It is the skepticism in face of Jave Eohim on his human manifestation. It is the unbelief on the Messiah incarnated in Jesus from
After the embodiment of Christ, humanity lost the condition to explain its atheism due to the divine immateriality. God became concrete.
If the reality of the knowledge of every human being have to go through some of its five senses, then the materialization of Christ, through a perfect man, take us to admit, logically, that this impeccable man has to be, necessarily, the Christ. Then, if all people are wanting, commit moral errors and live selfishly, then who lives on a perfect way has to be seen as someone truly out of the common human standard.
Normal people normally walk stepping on the floor. If someone walks flying above 0,50cm from the ground, with any extracorporeal device, we have to admit that this person is outstanding. If all people are sinful while Jesus is impeccable, without charging moral mistakes, not disobeying the divine law and nor living selfishly, then there is no option, Jesus is the Christ.
Since Jesus is impeccable as person, perfect in everything he said and did, we must conclude as the rationalist and atheist French writer, Ernest Renan, when he researched about the divinity of Jesus, and said: “Rabbi from
To believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the Savior of unbelievers, is an imperative of reason and a conclusive ontological need. It is not possible a perfect being, to be just human. The moral, spiritual perfection and the integral and unbearable physical health of Jesus point out to a man beyond his human frontiers. Jesus is the incarnation of the Messiah who came to save humanity from its messianic desire of wanting to be as God.
Faith in Christ is the opposite of sin of sins. Who lives, spiritually, on his own account, lives on the sinful autonomy of self-sufficiency. The person who only depends on Christ on his confidence, will not be judged on the divine tribunal. “He who believes in him is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God”. John 3:18.
We were all born unbelievers in relation to Christ, so, we all came to the world already sentenced and condemned to hell. Who does not believe already is judged. So, to believe in Christ is the suppression of the penalty and the freedom from the eternal banishment, due to the unbelief.
The problem that drags the human being to the eternal punishment on hell is not simply the transgression of the divine law, but incredulity referring to the person of Christ Jesus. On the text above emphasized, nobody will be judged by his correct or incorrect acts, by his good or bad actions, by his adequate or inadequate behavior, but by his faith or unbelief in Christ. “I told you that you would die in your sins, for you will die in your sins unless you believe that I am he” John 8:24. The sin that generates sins is not to believe that Jesus is Jave.
I AM is the timeless character of Christ. Here there is not past, nor future. Jesus is the eternal gift. He is the endless I AM for the salvation of unbelievers, in order to make them permanent believers just on him, through the faith given by himself. “But he who misses me injures himself; all who hate me love death”. Proverbs 8:36. Wisdom in Proverbs is the own essence of the person of Christ.
The eternal salvation is in Jesus, the Christ. The person who lives by faith on the person and work of Jesus Christ, lives eternally saved from the sin of sins. He does not live anymore on atheism, even he commits some fault, but the one who does not believe in Jesus continues on the practice of the lasting sin. “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him”. John 3:36.
Everything that does not proceed from faith is sin. Faith elapses from the audience to the words of Christ. Without Christ Jesus crucified there is not freedom from sin, nor the donation of faith, for he is the author and the fulfiller of faith. Everything that the Father has for the sinful humanity was proposed in Christ Jesus, our Savior. “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved”. (Acts 4:12)
Everyone who believes in Christ with all his heart, can not live in the sin of sins, as Christ, the divine seed of faith and of freedom from sin, is on him, therefore, “No one born of God commits sin; for God´s nature abides in him, and he can not sin because he is born of God”. I John 3:9
